Lajitas began in 2000 with a grand vision to be the first destination resort and private community in Texas with exceptional facilities, gourmet food, and activities to suit the widest variety of interests. This vision has developed, over the past two years, into a four-star destination with an outstanding golf course, three restaurants, a luxurious spa, one hunting facility, an equestrian center, Red Rock Outfitters, Boardwalk Condominiums, and the list goes on and on.

The Smith family vision continues to evolve and in November 2004, President and Managing Director, Daniel Hostettler introduced our members to the newest rendering of the resort core, the development of which will occur over the next three to four years. This vision is one that includes a new clubhouse complete with the members’ locker rooms, spa, and restaurant; the Lakeside Cottages, with construction beginning in October 2006; and the upcoming Golf Course Villas—homes that take full advantage of the spectacular views and offer the ultimate in golf course living.

“In creating this Master Plan, the Smith family wants to ensure that their vision for Lajitas is established and will firmly provide us a road map for continuing Lajitas’ development as a private community,” says Mr. Hostettler. The Master Plan is a map by which all future decisions in direction, architecture, building progression, and all other evolutions of the community will be driven.
